A catch-all mailbox receives messages sent to inactive addresses under the very same domain name. For example, a message sent to the misspelled suport@domain.com will be delivered to support@domain.com in case the catch-all feature has been enabled for the latter. In this way, you can receive emails from colleagues or customers who may have sent a message to your email address with a typo or to an outdated one, which they may still have, but you have already deleted. Only one mailbox per domain name can be a catch-all one and email forwarding cannot be enabled for such a mailbox. This is so because of the fact that at some point you may start receiving spam emails in the catch-all mailbox and the forwarding restriction implies that the spam will not be redirected to a 3rd-party mailbox.
Catch-all Emails in Hosting
If you’ve got a hosting plan with us and you want to activate the catch-all feature for a specific mailbox that you have in the hosting account, it will take literally only a mouse click in the Email Manager section of your Hepsia hosting Control Panel to achieve this. A catch-all button is available on the right-hand side of each email address that you have set up under any domain hosted in your account. You can pick one single address per domain name by clicking on the corresponding button. This will enable the feature immediately, so all messages sent to mistyped email addresses will be received there. Clicking on the button once again will disable the catch-all feature. In case you have enabled email forwarding, our system will display a warning notification and you will not be able to activate the catch-all feature unless you remove the forwarding or you can simply pick some other mailbox to be the catch-all one.
